World Schools Debating Championship Winners
The World Schools Debating Championship was established in 1988 with teams from only six countries participating. Now the international competition for high school students welcomes teams from six continents. A country can only send one team to the Championships, and the selection for a national team depends on the individual country's debating rules and organization. At the Championships, each debate consists of two teams of three. First, preliminary rounds are held and then the top teams move on to the Semi-Finals. Winners from that round compete in the Grand Final. Australia, New Zealand, Bermuda, Peru, Germany and South Korea have all been past locations for the Championship.
The Web site offers a Press section with past articles relating to the competition, and a blog for the tournament.
