Country Research

Chances are that if you are a student, you have been assigned at some point to write a report on a foreign country. With so much information out there, it can be difficult to find the resources you need to paint a big picture of a nation's history, government and culture. Look no further - LibrarySpot has some pages where you can get started on your research, and we are going to show you exactly how to use them.

Countries

The LibrarySpot Country pages contain a list of countries all over the world, from Afghanistan to Wales. Simply click on the country you are studying, and you will be directed to numerous encyclopedia and reference sites that provide profiles of the country. You can choose any of these sites to start your report.

For example, if you are studying Morocco, you can learn about the country from established sources like the BBC, The Economist and the United Nations, or you can just gain a quick overview from useful Web pages like Encarta or Infoplease.com.

National Libraries

Also check out the LibrarySpot National Libraries page for your research. Click on the country of your choice, and you will go directly to the country's national library, which provides information about the nation's culture and history.

For example, visit the National Library of Russia. There, you can see upcoming events, recent news, and an extensive list of the library's collections. You can even see some of the online exhibitions from your computer and learn about famous writers like Goethe and Pushkin and see postcards of Saint Petersburg.

Geography and Reference

HomeworkSpot can also be useful when you are looking for facts about foreign countries. Depending on your school level, visit either the Middle School or High School Social Studies pages. From there, you can be directed to sites that will provide information about the countries, and you can also see maps and flags.
