On September 25, 1957, nine black students entered the recently desegregated
Little Rock Central High School under the protection of 1,000 members of the
101st Airborne Division of the United States Army. The events that preceded
their first day at school included riots and an order from the Arkansas
Governor for the National Guard to block their way into the school.
Dedicated to this historic event, this site remembers this important day in American history. On the
40th anniversary of the event, President Clinton joined those first nine
students in a special ceremony in Little Rock
Here you can read The
Tiger, the school newspaper from 1957 and find out what those nine
students are doing today.
