The Art Institute of Chicago and the Chicago Public Schools have collaborated to teach both teachers and students about recently restored murals in the schools. This exhibit from the Art Institute is the result of that collaboration, which includes 11 schools and aims to integrate the arts into the classroom, using the resources in the Chicago Public Schools.
Click on any of the murals to see them up close and learn about their origins. If some of the vocabulary is unfamiliar, click on the underlined words to find out what they mean. Watch excerpts from movies inspired by the murals, and scroll to the bottom of each page to see related work.
Finally, check out books and links for more resources on art in Chicago and across the country.
